What you may not be aware of, however, is that when you’re exposed to it constantly, you can suffer from lead poisoning. The dangers of lead can definitely affect humans, especially your children. They can suffer from learning disabilities, stunted growth, and brain damage.

1. You need to have your house tested. Most homes built before 1979 do contain lead because of the paint used. However, it doesn’t really mean that you can forego lead testing if your property is not. Lead can still be found in other things. 3. Talk with your seller or landlord. Before you decide to buy or rent a home, talk with the landlord or the seller first, especially if the home is already old. They are mandated to give you full lead based paint disclosure even in the federal forms. They should also provide you with pamphlets that will teach you to curb the dangers of lead in the home.

4. Lead can also be in the water. Oftentimes lead can be in the windowsills, doors, gasoline, painted toys, and a lot more. However, you can also be at risk of lead poisoning through the water. When your pipe is composed of lead and the water passes through it, the lead can get mixed up with the liquid. It’s advisable to wait for few seconds before you drink the water directly from the faucet. To be on the safe side, boil the water or settle for purified one.

Lead poisoning is highly dangerous, and it can even cause death. However, it can be prevented.
