Orange County Testing Guide

Orange County is the county seat of Santa Ana in Southern California. With an estimated population of more than 2 million, Orange County ranks 2nd among the most populous counties in the state of California and making it the 5th most inhabited in the country. Unlike most population centers identified by a central city, Orange County has no urban center and is more or less a suburban area with only small portions of older urban areas such as Santa Ana. Orange County is also a known for its famous tourist spots such as Disneyland and the Knott’s Berry Farm. It is also the core of Southern California’s Tech Coast with Irvine as the primary business center. Orange County has 34 incorporated cities, Anaheim being the oldest and Aliso Viejo as the newest addition to the list. In 2005, The Wall Street Journal identified Orange County as having the second most expensive housing market in the country.

The following is the list of Orange County’s incorporated cities: Aliso Viejo, Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Cypress, Dana Point, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Irvine, La Habra, La Palma, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Los Alamitos, Mission Viejo, Newport Beach, Orange, Placentia, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, Stanton, Tustin, Villa Park, Westminster, and Yorba Linda.

Orange County is known for its history of having huge master planned communities. Some of these counties that were established with this method include the City of Irvine, which is the ideal master planned city, Anaheim Hills, Coto de Caza, Ladera Ranch, Tustin Ranch, Talega, Rancho Santa Margarita and Mission Viejo. A number of other communities in California have followed this Orange County development plans as an example for their own planning. Basic components of the master planned communities consist of community clubhouses, pocket parks, horse trails, community pools, and active associations. This structural plan was also copied in several places across the country.
