Signs and Symptoms of DHEA Hormonal Imbalance
What is DHEA?
DHEA, or dehydroepiandrosterone, is popularly known as the “mother hormone,” in medical circles as it has the ability to produce various hormones on demand like estrogen, progesterone, cortisone, and testosterone. A steroid hormone, DHEA is produced in large quantities in your body and contributes significantly towards your good health. Moreover, studies have also revealed that there is an inverse association between diseases and DHEA levels. This means that if the DHEA level in your blood is high, you are less likely to suffer from diseases.
DHEA hormonal imbalance in females tends to lead to a series of health and hormonal issues that can have serious negative impact on the health of the individual. Also popular for having anti-aging properties, DHEA has been touted as the ‘fountain of youth’ hormone as it has shown significant potential in slowing down the aging process.
Why is DHEA Important?
It’s been known since long that the right hormones levels are very important for the well-being and good health of every individual. In fact, research has shown that the hormones such as DHEA produced by your Endocrine System along with the ‘T-cell markers’ (found within your Immune System) play a crucial role in ensuring your well-being. Furthermore, some published studies have also explained that DHEA supplements can help decrease the risks involved in life-threatening diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, Alzheimer’s disease, senility, and even premature death. DHEA levels in your blood typically peak by the time you are 20 yrs old and decrease to just 5% by the time you turn 80!
1) Optimal levels of DHEA hormone in women = 350-430 mcg/dl (micrograms per deciliter) Optimal levels of DHEA hormone in men = 400-560 mcg/dl.
2) Your DHEA hormone levels will drop to 200 mcg/dl or less by your 40th Birthday.
DHEA is also important because it:
• Boosts your body’s immune system
• Lowers the risk of cardiovascular diseases
• Helps your body fight certain cancers
• Lowers the risk of diabetes
• Reverse the damage done by Cortisol hormone
• Protects your body against and reverses osteoporosis
