What Are Date Rape Drugs And How They Work?
Many unsuspecting girls have been victims of rape because a drug had been dissolved into their drinks while at a disco or pub. Awareness is crucial in avoiding such instances and so here is a list of common drugs used to indulge in date rape.
How do these work?
These date rape drugs function primarily by altering the behavior of a person. The typical characteristics of such drugs includes inducing hypnotic behavior, sedative, amnesia or a dissociative state in the person. The drugs are often added to drinks or food, often without the person’s knowledge.
The types of drugs
There are mainly two groups of such date rape drugs, namely GHB or gamma-hydroxybutyric acid and the other group comprises Benzodiazepines. The latter group encompasses drugs like flunitrazepam, which is commonly called roofies or Rohypnol. Alcohol is also a commonly used substance to intoxicate the victim and indulge in rape.
Benzodiazepine drug groups
The drugs falling under this group are used in the treatment of insomnia, anxiety, attacks, panic and other conditions. All of the drugs under this group function as date rape drugs. The drugs, which treat insomnia conditions can induce motor-impair, sedation and amnesia in the victim. The most common drugs used in date rape, falling under this category include Flunitrazepam namely Rohypnol, Midazolam, Temazepam namely Restoril etc. These induce hypnotic states in the victim and the most common and easily dissolved drug is Rohypnol. Rohypnol makes the victim unable to resist attack or any sexual assault. It can also induce amnesia, which means the victim will not remember the incident of rape. The drug Rohypnol has been banned from being imported into the US.
GHB groups
These groups of drugs have the same intoxicating effects as that of alcohol. However, they are far more intense in the effects produced. When dissolved with water, GHB cannot be visible to the naked eye and the victim may not be able to detect its presence in a drink. When ingested by themselves they taste salty but when diluted with drinks they are impossible to determine. While normal dosages of GHB range between 1.8 and 2.7 grams, to induce sedation states in victims, the doses need to be much higher.
Other drugs used
One other common date rape drug is called Chloral Hydrate. It produces hypnotic or sedative effects in the victim just as the Benzodiazepine group of drugs do. Drinks laced with Chloral Hydrate are commonly referred to as ‘Mickey Finn’.
Investigations to detect date rape drugs
Date rape drugs are very dangerous and immediate investigation is essential if the victim feels she has been violated. Blood tests should be performed immediately to detect traces of the above mentioned drugs. If the person waits too long it can cause a negative confirmation of these drugs. There are commercially available testing kits to ascertain the presence of such drugs. There are also testing strips or paper coasters, which change their color if dipped into the contaminated drink.

Hi,
Here’s a copy of my response to a person suffering after effects of drugs and hypnosis, which is on the increase,is very powerful -
Hi,
Hope this note will give you some support, Re – drugs and hypnosis, this technique really exists and is very affective, I was also a victim, where this work assistant wanted a relationship acting very assertive dropping odd (powerful subliminal suggestions) words with changed tone, (all the time I felt in a trance knowing something wasn’t right, but somehow accepted it, this technique was taking affect) this continued for 3 months. (she always insisted to buy my drinks, as I was always busy at break times). I have a whole page step by step story which I won’t go into on this note. Finally it all went wrong, I felt this person was too young for me, all I can think of is marriage was the goal, to get hold of my money, the more this technique failed to work the worse I felt and the more frustrated miss x got, could it be more drugs and effort was used. This happened in 2003 where I suffered psychosis, and only now after 5 years I’m able to go back to work.
I know you had worse experience, The mind will not give up, it will continue to look for answers, eventually you will remember. here’s what will happen, if you imagine a jigsaw puzzle, over the next coming years you will have odd days where you will be thinking about your incident, you may see something, or hear a word, or talk to someone about the incident, friend may say something what could happened.
So over time these thoughts that may resemble what happened that night, this will then bring out a piece off that puzzle, and the more pieces there are the clearer it all comes. then flash backs will stop, and you can move on. Time is a great healer. Wish you a good recovery.
