Organizations with Drug Testing Programs

According to a March 2011 survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in collaboration with and commissioned by the Drug & Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA), more than half of employers (57%) conduct drug tests on all job candidates, while only 29% do not conduct drug tests on any job candidates. The majority of employers (69%) who perform drug tests on job candidates have done so for seven years or more and 12% have used them for five to six years. This suggests that those companies who started drug testing programs stayed with the drug testing programs for one reason or another.

Workplace drug testing has become an important safety concern for employers and safety professionals. A large percentage of Fortune 500 companies now utilize drug testing programs. The purpose is to reduce the impact of drug abuse in the workplace, including tardiness, absenteeism, turnover, attitude problems, theft, decreased productivity, crime, and violence.

Maintaining a safe environment in the workplace has become a challenging duty among employers in recent years. Given the prevalence of employee drug abuse, drug testing continues to develop as a popular strategy to control substance abuse in the workplace. It is a great tool for maintaining a safe environment for your workers.

However, starting a corporate drug testing program can be daunting if you do not know where to start. TestCountry can help you start a workplace drug testing program.
